For crying out loud - I'm only trying to wash her hair!

dd's twice-weekly hairwash has become a total nightmare. Struggling, screaming, wailing, cursing (and that's just me ) - I end up covered in water and shampoo, and she ends up with a load of brown crusty stuff stuck to her scalp coz I can't wash her properly.

Somebody help me please.....

ps. have been to chemist to buy a visor thingy today - will report back if this solves the problem. Am sceptical.

My dd used to hate having her hair washed and it took a long time to get her to trust me not to get water in her hair. We tried a shampoo shield and she just took it off so I had to get her to lay down. She still doesn't like it but she will actually keep the shield on now.

Have you tried laying her on a chair on her back next to the bath? If you put a flannel over her eyes she shouldn't get any water in them.

I told dd I had bought her some magical barbie shampoo that wasn't going to sting her eyes and make her hair look all shiny and soft. She had to look right up at the ceiling otherwise the magic wouldn't work. I then threw a couple of jugs of water over the back of her hair.
SHe still calls it barbie shampoo now, and she is 7. !

The dts I trained early on, the best thing to do, is to get them used to a jug tipped right over the head from day one, then they don't mind. Mine sometimes protest a bit, but mostly they jsut wait for the towel which is whipped straight in afterwards.
