Advice for my nearly 2 month old daughter

My daughter is 2 months old on Tuesday she’s hungry all the time she’s feeding around an hour or just under sometimes bits at a time or her full 5 ounces, sometimes she wants a little more, I’ve been told 2 months is too early to start on baby rice or weetabix for her bottle but I’ve been told that they’ve done it for their babies at that age, and I’ve read online that some people have and their baby was absolutely fine. As it fills her up more for longer I was wondering what your experiences have been, I’d only start with a little bit.
Also she has two little teeth at the front on the bottom gums and one on both sides at the back, chewing on her hand and chewing on a teething ring and when I feel her gums and massage them I let her bite down on my finger, is this normal at 2 months?

She's too young for any food and never ever put anything in her bottle other than milk. It's a choking risk plus they have no choice as to whether to take the solids if they want to drink the milk

Mrsmummy90 · 22/04/2019 00:41

Please do not give her any solids at all. It's a massive choking hazard.

Babies want more comfort when teething so that's probably why she wants to feed more. Speak to your health visitor if you're concerned but do not put anything in her milk.

Some babies get teeth quite early, mind did before 4 months.

As to hunger/feeding - I'd talk to gp/paediatrician if you can be referred etc.

The official line for food (with health professional's approval) is 17 weeks to my memory.

I started giving dd baby porridge at 6 weeks she was fine. But the nhs sets recommendations at for spoon feeding at 4 months probably to avoid the risk of younger children aspirating spoon feeds. I don't know how much of a risk their actually is though. As I say I just did what I though dd needed it's your call.

dementedpixie · 25/04/2019 17:59

6 weeks is just over newborn age. Why on earth did you think they needed food as well as milk?

MumUnderTheMoon · 25/04/2019 18:45

Your not the first person to ask. I'm assuming it's rhetorical with a side of judgement? If you'd actually like an answer, she vomited up everything else she was fed up until that point. Breast milk, formula, soy added thickners nothing stayed down so I did what I thought was best. Like we all do.

No solids, you might not (probably won’t) see the damage now but further in her life the damage would be more obvious. Bowel issues and the likes.
Babies just eat a lot, they need a LOT of milk. It’s almost constant, and it’s really difficult, but it’s because they need it

troppibambini · 25/04/2019 21:45

If she's hungry give her more milk with a faster flowing teat.

typoqueen · 25/04/2019 23:25

try hungry baby milk and maybe a faster flow teat

dementedpixie · 26/04/2019 06:46

I wouldn't use hungry milk at that age either. It's hardest to digest and has no more calories than first milk

Moralitym1n1 · 26/04/2019 08:22

A health visitor told me hungry baby milk 'just stuffs them up' and can constipate; no idea if true or not.

Moralitym1n1 · 26/04/2019 08:22

Sorry midwife not hv

Paigexx · 06/06/2019 19:32

For the reasons I’ve stated? And she drinks herself sick sometimes.

I’m going to call the doctor if it continues.. but my 3 month old daughter has been sick a few times like us adults but it’s pure milk.. she’s teething though. Is this normal?

The teething is pretty early so I wonder if she's using the teat of the bottle was it reliefs pain, rather than her being hungry. Does she take a dummy?

The vomiting sounds fine and nothing to worry about.

Definitely don't give solids just yet.

Hey hun she’s 4 months on 26th of this month, she is teething she has teeth coming through and tried her with some baby rice and Rusks with milk. She’s getting use to it just can’t get hold of the spoon motion in her mouth.. the hungry thing was a phase it passed I feed her on demand. Widwifes change their minds all the time one came round the other day and said not to start until 6 months now and not to even go onto baby food such as cow and gate.. I feel like I and any other mother should just do what I feel is ok, thanks for the advice anyways
