My DS is 3.2- we have removed the gates from the stairs from ages and ages ago but have a gate across his room to stop night wandering- anyone else?

[paranoid emoticon] am I keeping him prisoner??

Oh no diva! It sounds like your DS is too clever for his own good.

The stairgate on my DS' door isn't fixed properly or anything - he can just push it out of the frame, but it acts as a deterrent and if he does manage to escape, we'll hear him

There's advantages to having a downstairs bathroom

Have one at end of corridor that stops him going into lodger's room (lots of precious things in there) and getting to the stairs (paranoid about sleepwalking) but he learnt to open it a couple of days ago.

Didn't have one on his bedroom door purely because there is a step down into his bedroom and so he could reach the handle on the outside but not the inside. No movable furniture in his bedroom either.

Then he grew.

We put a stairgate across DS's room when he went into his bed a few weeks ago. DH was a bit doubtful about it at first, but thinks it's fine now as DS now has to stay in his room in the morning so we get a bit more sleep , and is perfectly happy in there playing with his toys or reading his books (DS that is!).

We have a gate on DD's (2.6) bedroom door, but I think we'll have to take it off soon as we're potty training and she will need to be able to get to the loo during the night.
