Orange foods

Food allergy question...Hi, my one year old is getting into solids more now, which is great. However, this weekend he’s had episodes of vomiting after eating baked beans and a satsuma (separate eating sessions). After being sick he’s returned to normal and no side effects or noticeable issues.

The obvious link is they’re both orange coloured. He’s not been sick now for 24hrs and seems absolutely fine, so I was thinking of trying him with another orange food, probably Wotsits later today.

I’ve not Googled this yet but thought I’d ask here and see if others had any experience with reactions to orange foods?

Thanks in advance, Leigh

Could be to do with tomatoes (in the beans,) and oranges themselves. Don't think the colour itself would be the link

He’s fine with tomatoes (red) on their own, though not a huge fan.

Maybe too much acidic based food in one day. Just try beans one day and then oranges another day.

My son has lots of allergies and although some things can be related it’s not really colour based Wink

Thanks for your advice. You’re the second person to say it probably isn’t related to colour, but I’ve not seen any real evidence backing this up. I’ve avoided orange foods since the last bout of vomitting and he’s been fine. I didn’t get to test with Wotsits today because what I thought were Wotsits in the cupboard were actually Skips.

Allergic reactions can occur whether it is the first encounter, or the 100th encounter on foods. This to me sounds more like the acidity. If you are worried about the reaction speak to your doctor or pediatric

Having avoided orange foods, to be on the safe side, yesterday I presented DS with prepackaged carrot sticks to eat in the car on the way home from Snail World (Margate, you have to go if you’re in the area!). They were from Sainsbury’s petrol station (orange branding...interesting). He wasn’t sick thankfully, but he was very agitated and spent the last 20 minutes of the drive home flapping his arms like a pigeon with its feet stuck to the ground by chewing gum. That wore off quick and all great once home. But WTF?
