5 year old having trouble in school

Hello All,

My first thread. I am dad to a wonderful 5 year old boy. We are immigrants from From India to Australia.

We came to Australia when my son was 3.5 years old. Now recently he started school ( they call it prep here). He is very intelligent to his age and very very active. He remembers everything and he like puzzles and most of the activities except drawing.

Now coming to the issue , ‘ he like babies’, whenever he see a baby he grabs their cheeks without second thought. It happens in a second.

I his class he has some small by size kids, and everyday he is just touching their cheeks and says hello baby. Teacher and other moms are not happy for obvious reasons. He is socially little late in growth. He is having some trouble in playing with friends and waiting for his turn. We constantly reminding him not to touch anyone and not to push anyone. There is a slight improvement it seems, but things are going out of hands and we got complaint from one of the mom today which is embarrassing. She was not nice at all in using her words and she literally shoved my son aside when she was talking to my wife. My wife literally bursted into tears and she is completely heart broken.

He is very sweet kid and he don’t have any problems in taking orders or kicking/ spitting at home or anywhere else. He don’t understand emotions. The other day one other kid literally kicked him in stomach and he was laughing and looking at me, I stopped the kid, then he started crying with pain.

How can I handle his touching situation?. I browsed through many articles and I am sure it’s not sensory issue, rather than seems like compassion issue. Can someone help us here..we are completely heartbroken by looking at the situation. Pls.

Teach him about personal space and respecting others right not to be touched.
That it's ok to be caring etc but he needs to ask
