5 year old licking things!

Hi all,

My 5 yo dd has always been a thumb sucker and will put things in her mouth when it’s not always appropriate. She will surreptitiously try and lick things like playdo, bubbles in the bath... She is also now biting her nails (I think), went through a hair chewing phase, though she has stopped that now, and will occasionally lick things totally randomly! She doesn’t have any other sensory ‘things’ and other issues. Should I try and stop her? Or just ignore it and see if she stops on her own? Help, I find it so disgusting!

I wouldn’t try and stop her OP as she seems to feel a need to do it. Have you thought of getting her some chewable jewellery?

Maybe that would stop her chewing and licking random things and keep you in control of how often it’s washed 🙂
