11 month old? Autism?

Hi so my Baby is nearly 11 months and she is always watching her hands? She will stare at them or bring them close to her eyes and just watch them. Just wondering if this is normal? Or should I mention it to a HV. I’ve googled it and it does bring up early signs of Autism? Could this be right? Any help would be appreciated thank you

As I'm sure you know googling stuff is never helpful. Just gets you more het up, though we've all done it. Sorry I don't have any experience in this area but mention it to your h.v to put your mind at rest

I think this is pretty typical! My baby went through a similar phase just prior to learning how to clap and it’s since calmed down. I wouldn’t worry at this stage at all :)

I wouldn't bother to mention to the HV is I'm honest, there's very little she can do at 11 months.

If you are still concerned at 16 months, you could do the m-chat.

Doing the Talking Point Progress Checker at 12 months is probably useful too.

How's her sight too OP? Our DD was looking at things close to her simply because she couldn't see Smile

And like others have said, I'd avoid Google. Probably easier said than done but you don't seem to be gaining much from it, well apart from worry Smile

@BLP123 looking at ones hands at 11M is a normal development milestone. What you are referring to as a red flag for autism is when they make unusual finger movements near their eyes, a form of visual stimming (for example, your child wiggling their fingers close to their eyes) - looking/staring at ones hands at 11M is not concerning at all.

She is getting checked for her eyes, so I’m thinking that it could all be connected. As they think one of eyes isn’t as strong as the other. Thank you for all your replies!!
