Obsession with blowing raspberries!

Feel a bit silly posting this but will do it anyway! My 6 1/2 month son is constantly blowing raspberries...he learnt how to do it about a month ago I suppose and now does it all the time. Makes me laugh but none of his baby friends do it...will he grow out of this obsession or can we expect it going on to adolescence?!

My DS was just the same at that age. People used to ask me if he'd started to talk (a bit optimistic, I know) and I had to say "no, but he can blow a good raspberry". He hardly ever does now (at 17.5 mo). They were actually very sloppy and he seemed to think very amusing.

yeah dd 6mth does this especially when i'm trying to feed her! She also does a cough that sounds like donald duck, drives me batty! but everyone else thinks its hilarious so she does it all the more. ahh bless what a cutey!

My DD has done that s since 8 months - now 15 months and no sign of a let up - I have tried everything...ignoring it, distraction techniques, looking annoyed etc. and have had no joy. I think she just doesnt care what anyone else thinks as she just enjoys doing it. Particularly annoying when she has a mouthful of yoghurt... any ideas on breaking this habit would be gratefully received

Dd thought blowing raspberries was just great, and the fact that her big brother thought it was the funniest thing EVER just encouraged the whole thing. Their party trick when she was about 12 m.o. was for him to say to her "What does a bee say?", then she would blow a raspberry and both would crack up. Needless to say the joke wore thin with us adults long before it paled for the children . She stopped doing it as she started to talk more.

Mine blew his first at his Christening, aged 4.5 months, much to our amusement & embarassment. Wore very thin very quick. Can't remember how long it lasted, but lasted even longer when ds 2 discovered it and they had competitions in the back of the car!

Jaytree -- stop feeding her the moment she starts blowing raspberries? DD is Queen of Raspberries, too. During mealtimes, I take it as a likely sign she's full up.

We still think it's cute, though.
