6 week old constantly unsettled

I'm completely at my wits end. Dd is now 6 weeks old and she has been very unsettled from about 2 weeks after she was born.
She's unsettled 95% of the time. The only time she's not crying is when I get her to sleep!

I originally thought wind issues like DS had which he came out of about 12 wks and with the help of comfort milk, but she's in much more pain and discomfort than he showed. I then thought colic but she's unsettled all the time not just evening time etc.
I tried her on comfort milk and nothing changed so then after listening to family members they advised me to try gaviscon infant incase she has reflux, I thought that had helped but after 2 days she was just back to screaming and being unsettled.

Her little belly is hard a lot of the time and she's very difficult to get wind out of! And of course gaviscon has now made her constipated. So after a trip to gp today I was given latulose to help her go to the toilet but never got any help regarding what could be up with her. I'm up most of the night with her and then stuck on my sofa the majority of the day trying to wind and settle her and feel like my 1 yr old son is missing out on time with me.

I'm at my wits end. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Part of me also considered a milk intolerance but she doesn't match the symptoms of that.. No rash, loose stools etc

I don't know what to do other than cry right now

I can’t help but I can sympathise! My five week old isn’t far behind!! She spends a lot of time sleeping and when she is awake we get small windows of lovely interaction but then out of NOWHERE she will scream a really distressed cry and it’s all I can do to rock her back to sleep! But I feel sure I’m doing her a dis-service to constantly rock her to sleep... surely we should be able to enjoy some awake time together without the tears and upset???

Two things stand out from your post, the hard tummy and the constant discomfort.

Has anyone mentioned the possibility of CMPA to you? Have a read of the link and see if any of the symptoms sound familiar Smile

Constipation? Colic? My son was this way too! He literally cried for 3 hours straight some nights:( we switched his formula from normal to colic and constipation one and he was a different child!
