3 year old heaves at a lot of things, not sure if normal

My 3 year old seems to have a really sensitive stomach to things. He's never been good with food in general since he was a baby & would throw up everything I gave him when I was weaning him & it was very stressful.

Since then he gags over anything he generally doesn't like, if there is food on his dinner plate he doesn't like the look or smell of he heaves until we take it away & if he tasted the food it would generally end up with him throwing it back up onto the plate, when he picks up food he's dropping from the floor to take to the bin ... even when my partner let go of wind & my 3 year old smelt it he was gagging to the point of tears.

Im just wondering does anyone else have this problem?

If not heard of any child being this sensitive, although I admit I’ve got pretty limited experience. It might be worth filming him and showing your HV/GP.

My nephew is a bit like this, he seems to have very strong sensory reactions - to both taste and smell. I also have the odd thing that makes me gag because of the texture so I think we all have it in some way. However, my nephew eats very little variety and can get emotional about it. There are other behaviours present so he is being assessed for additional needs. I think pp is right that you should speak to medical professional. Maybe read up on sensory behaviours as I think some children can be orally hypersensitive and this causes choking and/or gagging.

I did think that it will probably be best to take him to see someone about it but was just curious if anyone else had experienced this. Thank you for the advice Smile
