My ds is 2.9 mths - always been a good sleeper - still has a 2 hours sleep in the afternoon and sleeps from about 8 till 8 so all good there - He has however, recently started to play up at day and night time prior to going to sleep - as soon as we take him in his room he gets all tantrumy and saying no bobo's (sleep!) - he does settle down after a few mins of being left to have his tantrum in his cot but tonight ive put a story cd on in his room and he went quiet really quickly - what i want to know is if this is a good idea or should it be music or nothing at all? my dd has story read by us then a cd (story or music) but she is nearly 6 - i dont want to start a depedency to get to sleep with ds so any opinions please?!

can't see any harm in a story tape really.

Just wondering if he needs a shorter midday nap now?

sssandy2 - dont say that i have been burying my head in the sand at the thought of losing my 2 hours peace and quiet in an afternoon ! i think i might need to cut it down a little bit though

Both my 2 have had tapes at bed time since they were babies They are now 9 and 11 and still do.
When they were babies they had a lovely mother goose lamp that gradually dimmed once the tape finished.

Mine both had story tapes - dd has only just given up hers and she's 11. She's got it on her Ipod, though, in case she needs it at sleepovers! The really important thing, IMO, is to have a tape that's just for bed time, and never changes. DD has a lovely Barefoot Books story CD that she's had since she was 4, and ds has an incredbly old tape on Johnny Morris reading Thomas the Tank Engine. Remember to copy it though, or you're in dead trouble if the tape breaks! Failing either of those, Bach piano music has always been very soperific.
