DD 11mths. Always been a good sleeper (lucky, i know). For about the past month, despite normal bedtime routine and getting herself to sleep peacefully, she's started 'waking up' about 2/3 times a night. We listen for a while in case just moaning in her sleep, but as cries become obviously more distressed sounding (we try to guess before this, obviously), we have gone into her to check doesn't have arm stuck through cot bars etc. Most of the time she seems to be perfectly fine and still asleep, so we put her favourite teddy to her face, she suckles and stops crying. Tonight, she was sitting up, we picked her up, her eyes were open, she was still crying, and when we offered her water, she didn't seem to know it was there till the teat touched her lips. She then seemed to 'startle awake', drunk some water and calmed down. We then put her back with her teddy, and she's fast asleep again.
It's def not too warm in her room, she's had loads of nourishment today, and isn't teething AFAIK.
Any ideas? Sorry long post

My ds used to have what hv said were night terrors, although it only happened about 3 or 4 times. He would wake absolutely screaming and when we went in he looked wide awake with his eyes open but clearly he wasn't. He didn't know who we were and used to lash out, scream and shout. He could not be consoled for ages. Usually dh had to put him on his knee as he was stronger and just hold him tight until he calmed down. In the morning he knew nothing of it, thank god. He was a brilliant sleeper and these episodes were so out of character we were terrified. Apparently it is perfectly normal but it certainly freaked us out for a while.
