Teething at 3 months?

Can anyone help me identify my 3-month-old sons teething signs?
I thought it might be too early but he has all the classic signs such as drooling, red cheeks, biting his fists and he's off his feeds (he seems fine after a bit of calpol). I ran my finger along his gums and I can feel some teeth coming through on the upper left hand sign and one at the front. Has anybody else had an early teether? Most websites say 7 months but that?s very general isn?t it?

My DS teeth started to come through at 16 weeks.

I dont think there is an average age for teething IMO.

Some babies are born with teeth, some get them in the first few weeks, some not till their over 1.

Gecko is displaying all those signs and has been since about 17 weeks

Ds cut his first tooth at 12 weeks and the second shortly afterwards. He's now got 6 at 7 months. It's early but seems to be fairly common.

The first two caused him quite a lot of bother but the recent new four were a breeze!

hi chocpenny.

my ds2 started teething at 12 weeks and got his first teeth just before he was 5 months,my dd2 also started teething early but hers have taken ages to come through.

it might be worth talking to the hv or doctor though if he's off his feeds.i though dd3 was teething as she hasnt been feeding too well, but i found out today she has an ear infection(and is teething as well!).

yes I know I was most surprised by the fact I could feel about three in a row in the upper jaw, I thought he might just be getting those first front ones through!

Chocolatepenny My lo is doing the same, he is definately teething too but ds2 was the same and was teething for months before they finally appeared.
Anybody any good ideas for soothing them? I've given calpol today.

Booboobedoo · 19/06/2007 10:55

My DS is thirteen weeks, and is showing all the signs. He's been quite distressed actually, but no fever (and he's not tugging at his ears).

I gave him Calpol on Sunday and he turned into a different baby within 20 minutes.

Can anyone reccommend the best teething powder/gel?

CP: apparently they can show these signs for months without the teeth actually coming through.

My dd had started cutting two teeth on the cross by her six-week check but she didn't get the rest until she was about 7-8 months. It was just the tiniest glimpse of white on her gum so I wasn't sure if I was imagining or not but the doctor confirmed it.

Chocolatepenny · 19/06/2007 14:15

thanks all, I can see something in the gum , and I thought I'd imagined that too but sounds like its the first sign of a tooth. I have just been using Calpol and it clams him down for a few hours before the drooling starts again. He's also started biting down on my boob at feeding times its bloody painful! nobody mentioned that at my pro breastfeeding class

Yes, it's possible! My dd (just turned 1) cut her first tooth at 15 weeks, closely followed by the second at 18 weeks (closely followed by me having to stop BF'ing ). Don't forget that the tooth has a lot of gum to cut through before you can see it or feel it.

(DD is now cutting her back teeth...3 days and nights of drooling misery and food and drink refusal... maybe it's me that needs the tips! )

My dd had her first tooth at 3 month and my little boy looks like he's teething now (12 weeks).
