Black out blind - what do you do for naps?

Just wondering if you use a black out blind for day naps?

I don't want to confuse bubs - who goes down at 7pm each night and I'm guaranteed at least 5 hours , before waking for another feed at around midnight/1am....and back down again....

I'm finding the day naps hard to do and cannot get into the routine of feed, play , sleep. Won't sleep!!! BF babies fall asleep on the boob mostly!

We don't have blackout blinds for naptime, and DD is ebf. We started Eat, Play, Sleep from about 10 weeks old. The trick is to get baby down before she starts to yawn. How old is your DC. We usually get 1.5hr of awake time between naps. Same (super short) nap routine EVERY naptime. Same blanket. When she was around 3months old naptimes were a nightmare, 30-40minutes of hysterics for 20 mins sleep. Now, it's 10 minutes from start to sleep.
You just gotta find that window...too early and baby'll get frustrated, too late and baby's overtired.
And just stick with it...for now. Because just when you've got it down to pat, they change routine anyways!
Good luck

My baby also does 8-2 then an early morning feed around 5 or 6 and then lies in her cot and babbles tp herself until 7, 7.30

Bubs is now 11 weeks. The night sleeps are going really well - which I should be grateful for! Last feed and then down at 7pm, wakes for nightfeed at 1.30am - sometimes later and then up for a feed at 5.30/6.00am like yours - happy to babble and bash toys in cot from 7am to 7.30am.

Only way I can get bubs to day nap at the moment is to feed to sleep - will nap for 30 mins then when in cot or on me whilst I read...

The soft oohhh sounds they make are an indicator of "I'm sleepy".... have tried to put down in cot then but is wide awake

I love her tired mantra while she's dozing off Smile
Cot naps only started this last week, mind you. She's a very sociable baby and just would not fall asleep in her cot.
Also, on the 30minute naps - it's the (small) price we pay for good nighttime sleeps. From what I read on MN, you rarely get good nighttime sleep AND 1.5hr naps...maybe when they get a bit older. Just yesterday Rosie had a mammoth 3hr afternoon nap.

I'd say Enjoy the baby cuddles. Read as much as you can. I have a 17yr old DS and spent waaay too much time stressing about naps. This window is so small, before they are too big to fall asleep on top of you! And keep on trying Eat, Play, Sleep. You will get there in the next few days, I'm pretty sure of it.

Thank you...I'm going to keep trying the eat, play, sleep...I'll also use the black out blind...thinking the light peaking through is a distraction!

Bubs seems very content though during the day despite the lack of naps! And today we managed a 45 minute nap this morning, it was after a big feed though (Bf) , and fell asleep on lap - transferred to crib ...

Meant to say, DD is 20 weeks. It took about a week to go from only sleeping when rocking or shushing to putting her down, nicely swaddled, fed and not too tired and asleep in 10minutes.
Have you heard of the 4th trimester? Your little one is still in that period so don't expect too much yet by way of routine and her "remembering" nap time cues.

And re the light peeking thru, I find they start to stare into the distance just before sleep...maybe leave a tiny slither of light for her to stare at. That way she won't get confused with blackouts
