Hi everyone. I am new here but just really need some advice. My ds is 5 years old and he's just started primary school, we delayed his start date due to his learning and development being behind where it should be. In his second year at preschool he made a lot of progress however still a little behind. We have taken him to the piedatrician and ds has had some genetic tests where they found he had some chromosomes missing and he is seeing a geneticist next April when we will find out more so just taking such a long time to get any answers. I'm so worried about him and over the summer holiday he was really well behaved but for the last couple of weeks at school his teacher has been telling me he's been really naughty and biting and hiting other children. I feel so upset and stressed out. Can anyone relate to this? Any advice? Xx

That is a long time to wait, is there a way to bring the appointment forward?

Would flexi-schooling be an option?

It might be worth asking MNHQ to transfer your thread over to the SM Chat Board too. There’s some experienced MNers in there who will be able to help Smile

Flowers How stressful that you have to wait so long. Have you let the school know about his genetic testing etc? It's important to distinguish naughty behaviour from a child who is over stimulated and anxious and lashing out because they're overwhelmed. Did they give you any indication about what the missing chromosones might mean? I'd definitely recommend going over to the SN board.

Sorry meant SN Chat.

Are you getting any support while you wait for the appointment in April?
