Excessivly blinking toddler

My 2.5yr old started excessivly blinking one night while watching tv. He was congested for a few weeks which we attributed to allergies before he started blinking since he had no fever. So we removed tv completely and it seems to help a little, but two days in he started to do it non stop. Took him to urgent care and found out he had an ear infection and red throat. No strep. He took antibiotics but blinking didnt stop. So day 4 took him to an eye doc (ped) and his eyes were perfect. So a week later it starts to slow down and over the next 2-3 weeks it slowed down a lot and you could only see it happen if he is a little tired so I got less worried and started to feel like it was passing. He got sick again a few weeks later with congestion (really bad congestion cant breath through nose at night) fever and throat and the blinking starts back up after about 3 days of congestion. (Tested negative for strep and flu) He is currently on antibiotics and I am waiting to see if the blinking will slow down again once he gets better. I also have an appointment with a ped neurologist in a few weeks to rule out anything neurological. All I am reading is that it is a tic and that in most cases it goes away after a while. Granted we did move and sell our house 2 months prior to this and on top of that he got congested, but I am trying to see if there are any other moms out there who went through this (similar circumstances ) and their child's tic eventually disappeared or almost disappeared. I am really looking for some positive outcomes since pediatrician is telling me this is what happens in most cases. He didnt say all so that is why I am posting here. Thanks.

Did the Paed say what they will be testing for if the tic doesn’t go away OP?

No he didn't say. I am actually going to see a neurologist in a few weeks so I am sure I will have more answers at that time. I will keep this post updated as I get more info.

I actually remember that I did this as a very young child. I have no idea why exactly I was doing it, I just thought I had to for some reason. The way that you breath in and out I thought I had to blink every couple of seconds! I don't know how long it went on for but I just had it explained to me that we don't need to blink constantly, that's not what people do and I grew out of it pretty quickly. I hope that's all there is to it with your little one. Good luck

Thanks for sharing. That is quite interesting. My cousins son did it for a year or so excessively and now you barely notice it if you notice it at all. As a parent you just wonder if there is more to it and will it go away. Thanks for sharing a positive outcome. :)
