dry at night

hello
when did your DC go dry at night? DS1 has just turned 6yo and still wets the bed about 50% of the time, sometimes more. We took him out of pull ups about a year ago, when a friend of mine made me feel that I was "holding him back" by keeping him in nappies - even if they were really full each morning... Hmm

He does a wee before he gets into bed, we take carry him/zombie walk him for one when we go to bed, and if I wake in the night I take him again. If I take him in the night he won't wet the bed, but it I don't - on those rare nights we all sleep through... - he'll invariably wake about 5am wet, and won't get back to sleep either, which means he won't get a very good nights sleep.

I've spoken to him about going back into pull ups, as it's getting more and more difficult to lift him, as he's getting so tall and heavy, and also, it's clear he's not quite ready yet to go without them. But, understandably, he says he doesn't want to. I'm realising now of course that we took him out too early, but not sure what to do next.

Just carry on as we're doing until he eventually starts waking himself when he needs to wee..? How long might this take..?

im not too sure how long it will take, it all depends on the child. you could try something like this, which looks like normal underwear but is actually absorbent.
