How can I make my child eat faster?

DS is 2 and eats soo slowly it's driving me crazy. Obviously I appreciate he's still learning to use cutlery etc but it's getting ridiculous. This lunch time he sat for ages eating one baked bean at a time, licking the sauce off first before finally eating it.
It's getting so the entire evening is spent at the table while he eats, he's currently vaguely chewing the end of a piece of pasta on a fork. I don't want to make it an issue and I'm glad he's eating but I'm losing the will to live.
Any tips please?

And yes, I know I shouldn't be on my phone but I don't want to focus on him so much and end up snapping because I'm so bored.

I think it’s pretty normal at this age. I used to do the washing up and clean the kitchen while DD just sat at the table, seemingly for hours.

@JiltedJohnsJulie Thanks so much for your reply!
Good to know this is normal but frustrating I can't do much about it.
I do do bits of washing up and try and do a bit of cleaning but I don't like leaving him when he's eating, it seems wrong to leave him sat on his own and I worry he may throw food around or worse, choke on something.
We only have a tiny galley kitchen so he can't eat in there unfortunately.
I guess I'll just have to carry on making toddler conversation for hours, read a book or sneakily look at Mumsnet Grin

This is probably not recommended but I spoon feed my toddler while she watches Peppa and dinner is eaten within 5 to 10 minutes.

I let her feed herself all other meals as she's happy to eat porridge and things like that without taking forever. It makes life easier and ensures she has a healthy dinner everyday.

When we had a galley kitchen, I’ve been known to stick the high chair in the doorway while I’ve got on with stuff. You’re right though, it can be bloody frustrating.
