14-week-old baby - barely wetting nappies whilst pooing more often

For the past two days (Friday through to now), my 14-week-old DS has been producing nappies that are barely wet at all, whilst pooing a lot more frequently - as frequenly as he did in his early weeks (after every freed and between feeds). The poos are mainly green (again, like they often were during early weeks) and not very explosive.

We began having some recent feeding difficulties (fussiness, pulling off the breast etc) that appeared out of the blue at 10-weeks (so a month ago) and I did notice a slight reduction in how saturated his nappies were over time (and I did battle with fears of him not getting enough milk and my supply dwindling due to our recent struggles), but his weight gain was always fine (he's maintained on the 75th percentile) and he always appeared well in himself, so I decided to persevere with breastfeesing and feed him expressed milk if needs be.

However, his wet nappy output dramatically fell on Friday, and continued though to Saturday. On Friday, he went the whole day prouducing very light nappies (he didn't even wake up with an averaely wet one). Yesterday, he woke up with an extremely wet nappy and then continued to produce very light nappies throughout the day - nothing like his regular output. Since he's also been pooing more often (which I didn't worry about because he's gone through periods of 'pooing more often' in the past and been fine), I didn't pick up on the issue on Friday because I just assumed that the individual nappies weren't getting a chance to get too saturated as I was changing them so often due to the frequent pooing. However, yesterday I made an effort not to throw his nappies away so that I could inspect them, and I noticed that [apart from the morning one, which was very wet], each nappy was worryingly scant and wouldn't amount to much when combined.

We rushed to A&E (DS still absolutely fine in himself) and got as far as seeinig the nurse who did some initial tests and decided that everything was fine and we could go home, so we didn't get as far as seeing a doctor or paediatrician. Thing is, yes, DS has been his normal self this whole time (content, alert, smiley, no sunken soft spot, no limpness or lethargy)... but surely this lack of urine is not OK?

What's strange is that feeding-wise, things actually got a LOT better on Friday and I could swear that he's been taking MORE milk since Friday than he has been recently - which makes the situation all the more perplexing! From the amount of milk I assumed he was taking, I'd've expexted his nappy output to be greater (not dramatically less) than it has been recently, and have gone right back to what it was before the feeding difficulties began. I know he's been feeding well because my breats empty (immediately feel softer) after feeds and I always listen out for swallows - he's been swallowing beautifully!

I'm extremely worried. We went to sleep at about 3am yesterday (after we got back from the hospital), and since then DS has produced an averagely wet nappy (just checked it). He sleeps through the night (and feeds when I'm in a half-asleep daze so I rarely remember the feeds), and his nightime nappy is usually the heaviest. Yesterday's overnight nappy was very heavy - heavier than this one...

I'm particularly worried about his kidneys because where is all his fluid going? Why isn't it being filtered out adequately? I really wish we've actually seen the paediatrician or doctor! I just want to rush back to the hospital but I'm scared we'll go through the same process and only get as far as the nurse again because he "appears well/normal".

Does anyone have any advice for me?
Has anyone else experieced this in their baby?

Just a few things that may be of relevence:

• There's been no recent change to my diet
• I'm vegan so his recent frequent bowel movements wouldn't be due to a cow's milk allergy
• He had his tongue-tie divided priviately on Monday (so almost a week ago) - healing beautifully
• His urine doesn't smell or appear dark or concentrated
• He has been his absolute normal self and does not appear unwell in any way - perplexing!

Thank you!

Won’t the fluid be going in the poo woman?

Sounds like he's feeding more efficiently since the tongue tie division and is therefore getting more hindmilk and your supply has adjusted accordingly now. More hindmilk may equal smaller overall quantity (but more calorific) hence the reduction in urine output. More poo being produced could be because of change to milk. And as pp said, obviously poo contains a high level of fluid so some of it will be in there.
