Help, DS has a new job which takes him away Mon-Fri for June and July (fashion selling season FYI same in Jan Feb) he has been off at home for 4 weeks before he started his new job, so we've had lots of Daddy time, me, DS1 aged 5 and ds2 aged 4.5 months. Tonight Daddy drove to London and DS1 sobbed and sobbed his heart out, I've just managed to get him off with rocking and cuddles. He is used to this as his previous job was similar. DH is getting a webcam so we can Skype each other at tea time. Any other ideas to help him through this transition? He has pics of him and Daddy by his bed.

Nothing further to suggest beyond what you are already doing

DP is in the RAF and so has worked away during the week for 2 years at a time, as well as the odd 4 month trip to the falklands.

It was hard for me doing all of the childcare, but he really appreciated the reception he got when he returned (little body hurling itself at him as he walked through the door)

Good luck!

bumping for you (though the rate I am killing threads today you might not thank me for it!! )

I hope he will get used to it with time. My DH was in the Army so we've been through similar separations at the same ages as your DCs. I know how hard it is.

Routine is good so if you can get a rhythm going around your DH's comings and goings that should help. Distraction is good also. Are there any treats you can use when you know your DS will be at his lowest?

Good luck!
