ADHD?

My daughter is 5. She has always been a hyper child but recently it's getting ridiculous to the point where my friend is asking if I've ever had her checked to see if she has ADHD. I had wondered this before as she gets so hyper its like nothing anyone says or does she won't stop doing something. She will climb and climb on people and will get right in their faces and no matter how much I tell her to stop she won't. It's like she can't even hear me. I actually had to drag her off someone today because she just wouldn't stop. She isn't like this at school though. Any thoughts? No matter what punishment I do whether it's sending her to her room or a timeout she doesn't care she'll do it over and over again either way. She hasn't had anything sugary today, no sweets and she's not allowed pop. Is she just acting like a normal 5 year old? None of her friends get this way and I sometimes have to take her away back home. None of my neices or nephews were as hyper either and I just don't know if it's her personality or whatever.

I think if it was ADHD, she'd also be like this at school. She may just be like this around you because she knows she can get away with it around you. And I don't mean this to knock your parenting, I just think kids know exactly how to push boundaries and manipulate people. Maybe you could try some new harsher punishment methods? Or maybe giving a firm briefing before you go out or have visitors (e.g. there'll be no jumping on people or we will not go to the park tomorrow).
I may be stating the bleeding obvious but I really don't think it's ADHD if she's not like it at school. From what I've heard ADHD behaviour is usually worse in school settings.

I’d tend to say yes, it could be as from what I’ve read, some children with ADHD can just daydream in class, so not necessarily behaving but behaviour which can be hard for the teacher to pick up on.

If you think her behaviour is different, I’d go to the GP as ask for a referral to have her assessed. In the meantime try Calm Parents, Happy Kids Smile
