Babygros and feet curling under!

My DS lived in babygros as he was and is a complete sod to change and put trousers on...however, now he's starting to stand up, I've been putting trousers and socks on him as am worried about babygros hampering his feet and his toes curling under when he starts to walk (although babygros are correct size, not too tight etc)..However, I've noticed when he's using his push walker thingy, his toes do curl over, although not always. I know its probably a gripping the carpet thing as he's finding his feet but please reassure me!

it's totally normal. lots of babies curl their toes up- as you say he is learning to grip, and finding his feet and the more confident he becomes the less he will do it

Phew! At last - a reply!!

Very relieved to hear this..keep getting dire warning of curling toes under and being unable to walk from mums dp and lectures about cutting toes off of babygros!!!

lol, no i am 100% sure it is nothing to do with babygros

NikkiBFG · 31/05/2007 21:18

Phew! Thanks for that! He does sometimes pull the babygro down as he stands up, which prob does cause him to curl toes a little, but since I noticed that, have put him in trousers and socks...off to shops to get him more trousers at weekend.....shame really cos babygros are soooooo user friendly!

My LO's toes are constantly curled bless her, she's 6 months - I think it looks so cute!

Isn't there something about babies not really knowing the difference between hands and feet for a while. i.e. they think that both can be used for gripping, chewing etc, which might explain why the toes curl under. My DS's still do sort of and he's 10 months - it's much less than when he was younger but is obviously still useful when learning to crawl and needing to grip on to things. Possibly doesn't disappear completely until they are actually walking?
