Baby won't stop crying HELP :(

Hey, I have a 6 week old baby and since about 2 weeks he constantly cries when he's awake, last week the midwife realised that he had tongue tie which we had cut that same week. Since then after a nap he stays alert and happy for about 20/30 mins and after that has a complete meltdown until I can finally get him to sleep. The doctor said he may have some reflux and colic but with the tongue tie fixed the reflux will get better. He just cries all the time, he's fed, changed and burped but still he screams! It's driving us mad, even when I try to leave him for a little cry to settle himself he just screams in a high pitched scream so I have to pick him up. My 2 year old also feels down as she gets zero attention because he's always crying so we are trying to settle him. Can anyone advise anything or have had this same problem? Sad

My best friend's little girl had this constantly and it turned out she had a dairy intolerance, this is well worth enquiring about even at such an early age. If you're breast feeding, keep a food diary and cut out dairy for yourself for a few days. We went round and round the houses trying to work out what was wrong with this tiny little bub. At one point up until dairy was identified she had endless ulcers in her mouth too.

I can never remember what the starting age for things like infacol and gripe water are, but these can help with wind, as can winding him across your thigh, pushing his tummy cavity into the widest part of your thigh, angling his head lower between your legs, tapping his back and moving your leg side to side.

If you're not b/feeding, Comfort baby milk can help, though this of course also contains dairy - ring your HV in the morning and ask for help.

Yeah I am breastfeeding feeding and have tried to cut out almost all dairy out! Fingers crossed I'll notice some changes Sad

I have a five week old and feel your pain as I'm suffering the same thing. I definitely feel your pain with this psychological warfare!

MY DS definitely has colic and it intensifies at night - intense nonstop wailing from around 8pm-1am. I have been told colic is pretty normal and many babies get it from around 3 weeks until they're around 3months. You just have to wait for it pass (so at least you're halfway there). I have tried gripe water and infacol but with both my DS just sicked them back up. Things that have helped slightly are letting him sleep on his tummy and holding him upright with firm back rubbing/patting when he's awake.

It's honestly a nightmare! The only thing that works is a warm bath before bed
I really home this stage passes fast because I can't even leave the houses, my poor 2 year old is feeling is too now
