"We have never come across such a spiky profile"

Says the SEN people involved with my 9 year old since Y1.

Year 5 is looming and I'm getting concerned for my child's future.
Anyone care to take a look at DC's 'weaknesses and strenghts' below and share their thoughts/experience/words of encouragement please? I see so much of myself in my child (the highly sensitive side) but struggle to support them in other areas, ie the challenges with literacy (it was always my strenght).
Dyslexia has been ruled out as well as autism.

Weaknesses

Disproportionate reactions to changes, pain, sadness and frustration.

Overly sensitive/dramatic/cautious.

Struggles to cope with criticism and disappointment.

Clumsy, sometimes careless.

Rarely seeks out social interactions with peers.

Struggles to maintain friendships with peers.

Demands adult attention.

Several speech impediments.

Doesn’t use appropriate grammar for age.

Poor literacy.

Poor maths.

Relies heavily on teaching assistant in the classroom.

Strengths

Is curious and creative.

Is passionate about hobbies and interests.

Has positive relationships with adults.

Follows rules and routines well.

Has a big vocabulary.

Shows empathy and sensitivity to others.

Keen to improve independence and responsabilities, ie cooking simple meals, self care.

To me op it definitely points to some form of asd. Without the diagnosis can your child still reap the help of a classroom assistant 1 on 1?

I agree. I do think the child's father and grandparent are both on the spectrum (as we all are but you get me). Both undiagnosed, both high functioning.
Yes we are very lucky in that we have applied for and recived extra funding for some 1:1.

I was told a spiky profile means Dyslexia, by the professional who dx my DD. Confused

Your lists sound like my DC who between them have Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, ADHD and ASD. Start by looking at the symptoms for Dyspraxia here and this diagram

Thank you!

Sounds very like my son who has Dyspraxia. Took a while to get to the bottom of it but he was diagnosed at a similar age to yours. Ask for a referral to the occupational therapist - we had seen many professionals and not one of them picked it up apart from the OT. Good luck.
