6 year old soiling pants daily

Hi,
My son is 6 years old and since toilet training hasn't had many accidents.
I have had 100% care of him and his older sister since his birth and his father lives overseas, has very little to no regular phone or Skype contact but shows up every 6-8 months to take them on a holiday and be Disney dad.
The kids returned from one such holiday 2 weeks ago. I also moved our house while they were away so new house but not new school etc.
Every night since, besides maybe once or twice, before bed time he has soiled his pants, not a full poo but heavier than a skid mark (sorry, I don't know how to describe it without sounding like a teenager).
After the first few, I got quite angry at him and said it had to stop and that if he needs to wear nappies again he won't be able to go to school (which he loves).
Since then he has been hiding his clothes that he's soiled and also putting wads of toilet paper in his bum in an attempt to 'plug' it.
I know I said and did the wrong thing, but now I don't know what to do. Should I get him checked by gp to make sure it's not physiological? I don't want him to get more anxious though and he would be by a doctors visit.
He also came home with none of his undies I packed, but missing items is not unusual, so I didn't peg at the time.
He is a very sensitive, smart little boy and his sister said that he had a few nights of crying for me when they were away.
I don't know what to do. Thanks

I'd be taking him to the GP as it sounds like he could have constipation and can't help the leaking.

Sounds like massive bowel impaction. He's so constipated he's lost the ability to hold completely and stuff is leaking out.

Explain you now believe it's not his fault and a doctor will probably prescribed medication to help and that it's nothing to worry about because loads of people have been through it.

You will probably be given movicol sachets to put into drinks, and be required to increase everyday until he's empty then slowly bring down the amount so the stretched bowel can return to normal.

This thread is someone who went through the movicol process and logged it, it'll help you know if things are woring.

Sounds like overflow soiling and constipation. Even if it's runny it might still be constipation (imagine a bag of marbles - you could still get liquid to go through the bag around the marble blobs).

Look up the poo nurses website.

Thankyou all, I didn't even think of constipation, as it seemed counter intuitive.
I will get onto it. Thanks
