Tummy time question

How much tummy time do your DC get on an average day? I have DD, aged 4 months. She gets about 30-40 mins per day. Am I about right or not? Its hard to tell, website guidelines vary drastically!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure there is any right or wrong, as long as your baby is developing (head control, rolling over etc) and doesn't have a significantly flat head which I believe is the risk of always being on their backs.

Some babies don't like tummy time anyway - and being held against a shoulder counts as well as being on the floor. I'm sure 30-40 mins is fine if dd is happy with it and on developmental track.

Both of mine hated being put on their stomachs so we didn't really do it at all, but were carried a lot in a sling (we didn't use a pram) which I believe counts.

5 minutes at s time if we were lucky! Don’t worry. Plus time on your chest counts.

3rd DC and they’ve all hated it, we get maybe 30 seconds every couple of days if it’s a good day at the moment (2months). Weirdly enough I’ve always had early crawler and walkers despite this though,I just let them do their thing... although this DC hates being on the floor full stop

Thanks for replies everyone! Perhaps I'm worrying a little too much about the amount of tummy time...one website I saw said 90 mins per day which panicked me a little! It seems wildly unrealistic to me!
