Fussy bottom - daft question on toilet seats..

DS is getting used to using the toilet. He's doing really well, but yesterday he poo-ed in his pants twice. He says it's because his toilet seat isn't comfortable. Must admit I have noticed that it does leave a mark round his bottom, so he's got a point really. It's the cushioned one sold in John Lewis ("Early Years"). Anyone got any better recommendations - am willing to buy another if it'll get him to use it. Clearing up pooey pants is not one of my most fave things..

Have you tried just sitting him on the normal loo seat & holding onto him?

I had to do that with many of my Charges due to uncomfortable loo seats & fussy bottoms!

Thanks, but I've tried - sort of works, but he gets a bit freaked out by being unstable. Also, he's fiercely independent and hates me helping him. Surely someone's made one that's comfortable?!

DD has a Baby Bjorn one which she likes. Out and about we did have a Toodle Loo folding seat, but then my dad taught her to hold herself up/on with a hand on each side of her gripping the loo seat (yuck) which works for her - she does this at home upstairs where we have no special seat for her. Suits her independent streak (in constant conflict with her 'daddy feed me with a spoon I am just a baby' streak).

Thanks DCMB - will check out the BBjorn one. Though I think he'd love best the idea of being like a grown up and sitting on the normal one, so might try and adopt your dad's technique - be a lot easier when out too, as I hate carting a potty around with us. (For all his independence, my lo does the spoon feeding type things too - I call him my little tyrant..)
