One year old girl LOVES pink

My 20 month daughter loves anything pink. Over the last month, she seems to have become obsessed with pink.

I don’t dress her in pink as don’t really like it. She has a twin brother and I never do the pink/blue thing with anything such as cups, plates, etc. But my elder sons have a doll dressed in pink (and one dressed in blue), which she is glued to. She also chose some pink crocs and will not take them off. Anything pink is like a magnet to her.

I’ve looked up various studies and it seems to not be a “thing”. Has anyone else experienced this with their children? Just interested in where she’s got it from!

Tv and movies perhaps? Peppa Pig, Disney Princessses etc wear pink. Is she in childcare? They may have lots of pink
dressing up and toys?

No, she’s not in childcare and doesn’t watch that kind of thing. Mainly CBeebies, which is reasonably unpink, apart from Upsy Daisy 😂

Toy shops? Adverts for toys? Argos catalogue?

She might just like the colour, some kids are just attracted to colours, the fact that it's pink is a coincidence.

Thinking Cat, perhaps, although we don’t really hang out at toy shops and don’t watch much advert tv. Captain, maybe. I honestly cannot think it could be from an external influence, as I have been careful not to expose them to gender colour stereotypes. I’m just interested that she’s so young but really has a strong preference for pink!

Child I nannied expressed a preference before 18 months on pink. It was odd. Her mum was if anything slightly against pink, and this was over 20 years ago when things were less pink/blue.

She couldn't even say the words to say, just if there were two or three objects that one was pink would go straight for that and sit there hugging it.
I remember particularly when I bought some Neapolitan Ice cream when she was about 18/19 months old. She ate all the pink then burst into tears, leaving the white and the brown which she wouldn't even touch.

She's now a very good scientist and doesn't insist on wearing pink all the time and prefers chocolate ice cream.
