Ds is 10 mths on the 6th June, he has only just mastered the act of getting on his hands and knees (but cant do this for long), he gets around by rolling everywhere, and is not interested at all in standing supported, never mind cruising or anything.

Do you think being a big baby would hold him back? he weighs 25lb at 9 mths, was 9lb 6oz born at 38 weeks.

Starting to get a little concerned now, or is this totally normal? my dd was early at everything so i guess i am going off how quick she was (which i know i shouldnt compare).

TIA

he sounds just fine, my ds didn't roll until he was nearly 8 months, crawled two weeks later and then didn't walk until 15 months, guess he felt he deserved a break.

I put the late walking down to a large head and small feet

Hi Pucca. Please try not to worry. They are all different. My first did things early if anything but number 2 is "laid back" to say the least. She did not sit until 9 moths, roll until a year and bum shuffled at 15.5 months.Nearly 18 months and no signs of walking.....

Dunno if size has anything to do with it but she was a big baby,9lb 3,nearly a full lb bigger than her brother.

my ds is 23lb 8oz at just under 8 months but is crawling, pulling himself up on any available item, etc so I dont think weight has anything to do with it. He is more interested in following his big sister and getting to her toys and I think that is acting as a big incentive for him to get more mobile!! He is being quicker at crawling, pulling up than she was so it can work both ways really (and she was lighter than he is at the same age)

I did notice that the bigger babies we knew when ds was at this stage tended to crawl and walk later (not always though)

Yikes now you've got me worried about what a shrimp my ds is - almost two and only weighs 25lb!!

I'm sure he'll be off before you know it and running around....

Well just to update, he started crawling on Thurs, there no stopping him now, so was obviously worried for nothing...

HIDE THE ORNAMENTS lol

Glad to hear he is crawling! Just wanted to say that you might hear people tell you that not crawling (rolling or bottom shuffling instead) is an early sign of a learning disorder. However, neither myself nor my husband crawled (he rolled, I bottom shuffled). Hubs has dyslexia and I don't have anything in the way of a learning disorder (top of my class all the way through, first class degree etc), so frankly I don't think that it is much of an indicator! Anyway, clearly you don't need that reassurance now, but thought I'd offer it anyway.

Ds1 didn't crawl at all, didn't even get himself up to sitting from lying down till 15 months. He just used to sit very happily wherever I put him. He sat himself up for the first time one morning, and in the afternoon he STOOD up and walked across the room to me! He's 10 now, btw.
