Constant runny poo

Hi all ,
My daughter is 21 months old and for as long as I remember her poo has never been 'logs' but firm ish. The older she gets the worse her poo seems to get . She has had explosive poo for the last 3 weeks in excess of 8 a day and numerous changes of clothes to the point where her childminder calls me to pick her up which is completely understandable although she is not poorly,it's hard for her to manage it with other kids to look after too. I have been to the doctors a couple of times and they just keep telling me it's ' toddler diarrhoea' and that some kids have runnier poos than others . Surely this isn't normal ? Iv tried changing her diet to lacto free/ cutting down on fruit adding more stodgy food as she has a healthy diet otherwise and eats brilliantly but doesn't seem to make any difference. Had anyone had a child like this ?! Any advise would be much appreciated xx

Mine was the same. I cut out dairy completely and he was fine, maybe try that?

I would get her checked for coeliac disease but don't cut gluten before you take the test. It's a blood test

Definitely get her checked for coeliac. If you are thinking it coukd be Milk, lactose intolerance is very rare in babies and toddlers unless she’s had D&V recently which can lead to a temporary intolerance.

It’s much more likely to be Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA) in which case you would need to talk to her GP before cutting out dairy and be referred to a Paediatric Dietician.

Thanks for replies , went to the docs again and they are doing a blood test next week for coeliac.

Its good news that you have been listened to and they are testing so early. There’s a Coeliac and Allergy Section on MN if you want to chat to anyone about the tests Smile
