My 14 week old is a happy sunny baby until an hour before her evening bottle and sleep (about 7.30). She cries unconsolably (if that's a word!) for up to an hour and then conks out for the night. She doesn't seem to have any issues with bringing wind up in the day so just seems weird if that was the cause..I know colic would probably be the obvious answer but I thought they grew out of that by 14 weeks? Just wondering if anyone had had a similar experience, any advice would be welcomed!

I agree that she's probably overtired. We used to give bottle before the bath and then dry, dress, little song then straight down - it did at least mean for us that the crying period was shorter as she was in bed very quickly after bath and as soon as she was put down she always stopped!!

Another vote for an earlier bedtime. We started off aiming for last feed at 7pm but this was simply too late for ds.

We ended up with him in bed at 6pm and that suited him and us; of course if it means your dd is up at silly o;clock in the morning then you'll want to make it slightly later, but it was fine for us as ds was ALWAYS up at silly o'clock!

go as early as you can and see how it goes.

Meant to say you don't HAVE to assume that your baby will cry. Once ds was in his routine, he only ever cried for a minute or two when waiting for his feed, certainly not inconsolable like this.

Of course all are different and some may just have this crying time, I'm just saying you don't have to assume it will happen.
