Should twelve year olds have their own bedroom?

Someone asked me what to do about their niece who is 12 and has to sleep in the same room with her mother because her mother refuses to move out of her parents home since splitting from her hubby. I think surely the girl should have her own room - they should be rehoused? But the mother is a stubborn cow. I just see this as very wrong. Thoughts?

Could you be more judgemental?

OMG THE LOWER CLASSES HAVE TO SHARE ROOMS?

Rehoused? How exactly? Does the mother have the money to acquire a new house/pay the deposit on a flat? Or do you think the council has unlimited supplies of empty housing they can just use for the benefit of people who already have a roof over their heads? This is not likely to be the case. She can go on a waiting list. But seeing that she is not homeless, it may well be a long one.

Technically yes but if money’s stopping parent from moving then realistically the answer is no she has to share.
