My youngest stepdaughter is 1 3/4 years old, and for a while she has developed a habit of removing her nappy while she is in bed and then painting herself, the inside of her cot, the bedding, the walls with its contents. We've tried to start potty training but she hasn't quite got the comprehension for it just yet, we have tried putting her nappies on backwards to make it more difficult, even sending her to bed with leggings on to make it more difficult and all it seems to do is slow her down, we are more than willing to take suggestions?

Put her in a gro bag which zips shut them secure the zip with a safety pin. My dd did this once, she didn't get another chance!!!

Have you tried asking her mum what she does at home? She might've already found a solution if shes there more often.

Is she doing it in the morning or the evening? If its the evening I'd get a video baby monitor and keep an eye on what shes doing until she goes to sleep, or alternatively pop your head round the door every few minutes until she is asleep or it smells like she needs changing.

Do you have a baby monitor? Ours is loud so if shes shuffling round or babbling in the morning its amplified over the monitor and wakes us up, though that will only work if shes not silently doing it!!

I wouldn't try the safety pin suggestion, that could be very dangerous if she does manage to fiddle with it and get it off if she put it in her mouth for example.

You can get sleeping bags that zip down the front - if you put it on back-to-front, they can't get it off! Works for us 😊
