Help! Baby constantly groaning etc

Anyone has any idea what the issue is? My 6 week old is constantly pushing, groaning, roaring and makes the kind of sounds I heard in labour ward. He is constantly getting tense and tries to push like ALL THE TIME and particularly st night so he basically doesn’t sleep - only calms down when lying on my chest. He falls asleep but the second i put him lying next to me he starts this concert . No other signs of being unwell though. Not seeing GP about this as I just find them useless . Any tips, recommendations, anyone has this or knows what’s it about ?

Just a thought, but have you tried swaddling? He might like it if he likes being on you.

It's pretty normal for new borns to make loads if noise and writhe about even when asleep I think. And defo normal to only settle on your chest. Tiring but normal!

However if you are worried your gp / hv / etc won't mind you checking in at all! It's a good idea to film the behaviour on your phone so you can actually show them.

Oh also it could be digestive e.g. needs winded a bit more and sat upright for about 30 mins after feeds?

Good luck!

Sounds like digestive issues (cramps) to me, I had it with all my kids. Normally, he should be ‘over’ it at around three months. As long as you’re holding him upright/walking he is probably fine, no? Although there are drops you can buy or change powder if you are not bf, from experience I now know that mostly they grow out of it by themselves. You could try to gently massage his tummy or to lay him with his tummy on your legs or arms and massage his back. Hang in there! Happy to give further suggestions if you think this may be it.

Sounds like wind. Is he constipated?
The first 3 months are called the Fourth Trimester and babies often need some of the comforts of life before they are worn like being snuggled against mum and hearing her heartbeat.
Yy to swaddling as a possibility but newborns are noisy sleepers.

You could be writing about my 5 week old baby. I recently took him to an osteopath and it was worked wonders. I came across this www.calmingcolic.com/11-reasons-baby-cranial-osteopathy-treatment/ and thought I have nothing to lose.

I took my boy after one session I have noticed a difference. He still grunts and moans but I know it's just for a bowel movement. It's expensive but we've noticed and improvement already.

We are doing osteo too!
