Any advocates for soft-soled shoes?

My 12 month old dd has been walking for about 3 weeks now, and whilst all the other mums around me are buying their kiddies 'first-shoes', I'm wanting to put it off as long as possible. A couple of pairs of those soft-soled shoes look favourable at the minute.

Anyone else big advocates for these? And if so, any particular brand to recommend? There are so many about - Bobux, Inch Blue, Robeez etc. Any thoughts gratefully received! x

All the brands you've mentioned are pretty the much same, be warned they get rashed very quicky when worn outside - so 2nd hand a good buy! I've stuck to buying clarks "crusiers" once they've learned to walk for a first pair (or two) of shoes as they are very soft, flexible and not rigid like proper shoes (much cheaper too) but they survive the outside world much better.

"trashed"

My cousin works in a kids shoe shop and told me to wait at least 6 weeks after DC start walking before buying proper shoes. So you are doing the right thing. I don't think there is much difference between the brands.

Clarks wouldn't sell me cruisers when my son was at that stage, they said he would trip up on them. He never crawled so never needed them before hand. It was summer I found jellies usefgul for him to run round the garden and bare foot in the house.

my ds had robeez and they were great. it is recommended that kids walk barefoot while they are learing to walk. with soft soled shoes you get the same benifits.

Clarks cruisers are a good buy, I don't see how Clarks thinks they will be tripped over they are meant for cruising so walking around the furniture what is the difference waking not holding on??? Clarks baffle me sometimes not a big fan of them but I do like the cruising shoes. They are not meant to be worn outside cause the soles are not thick enough if they stood on something sharp but are plenty thick enough for the occassional walk outside or in the garden or something. Nice and flexible and soft.

There is no hurry for first shoes unti they are going to be actually walking outside much anyway.

I left DD1 in daisy roots until she wanted to walk outdoors.

DS trashed his soft soled shoes - robeez- while still cruiseing outside. they don;t last if used on wet ground or on sit and ride cars outdoors on tarmac or grass. Reluctanlty i got him a pair of clarks cruisers 5 weeks ago, hes still wearing them hes been walking indepentanly about 3 weeks. Boy loves being outside and will tackle any surface, Indoors he is mostly barefoot.

You are not supposed to use Robeez outside. We have, on occasion, used them when in soft play areas but otherwise DD wore them only in the house. They are brilliant - non-slippery and very comfortable (by the looks of it)
