Ds, (3.6 & not that darling atm, actually) has bitten dd (6.11) twice in the past 24hrs. Yesterday he bit her on the shoulder during a heated argument over who gets to drive the (pretend) bus & actually drew blood. He was severly told off, sent to his room and then told off again by dh when he came home from work. Inspite of promises "never to bite again", ds and dd were rowing again this afternoon & guess what? another bite. I could see the toothmarks. Unfortunately, I didn't hear the disputes as I was elsewhere in the house. Dd can be an annoying little madam but nothing can excuse biting! FGS, what if he bites some child at school?!

I'd start confiscating toys/banning TV or wahtever else really would get to him. Don't do what my friend did and bite him - it worked in that he never bit again, but the school saw the bite mark on him and called in social services and she lost her child clearance.......

Poor you. My DD went through a biting 'phase' which started just before 2nd birthday and lasted 2 long years!!! It's one thing dealing with it within the family but, once it extends to other kids, you find yourself a bit of a pariah and unable to relax, constantly checking to see what child is up to. Don't worry though, I can confirm that even a serial biter like mine doesn't go on for ever - hurrah!!! Best thing you can do is surround yourself with friends who love you and to hell with what the rest think. Anyway, it hasn't come to that yet. I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. Biting is an impulse thing, so making him promise not to do is pointless. Just give the 'bittee' plenty of love and attention. I really don't get people who bite their children, what does that teach them except it's OK to do it because mummy does??
