What do you do when they shout out excuses at bedtime?

DS is 2.9. He's a good sleeper in general but in recent weeks has started to jump out of bed with a variety of excuses including:
I'm hungry (having just eaten)
I need a kiss (after having lots)
What are we doing tomorrow
My feet are cold

Etc etc you get it. Whatever I do or don't do he ends up in a state and crying because he doesn't want to go to bed. If i ignore he just ramps it up! It's a new problem and I didn't experience it with DD.

He is a very strong willed boy and not really open to bribery yet so I don't think that's going to work for us.

Any ideas? He's driving me mad!

What time is bedtime and what’s his bedtime routine OP?

tomhazard · 26/04/2018 17:34

Hi - he wakes for the day between 6 and 6.30 normally. We start winding down for bed with a bath at 6ish, one episode of Thomas after that then some books before he goes to bed about 10 to 7. It's worked so far Grin but maybe time for a change

Could you do Thomas before Bath? I think it’s recommended that all of us don’t look at screens for the hour before bedtime.

The times for him getting up and going to bed seem ok though. Is he getting outside at least twice a day? Is he getting plenty of exercise too?

tomhazard · 26/04/2018 19:01

Yes I could try that. He is definitely tired - he doesn't nap and gets loads of exercise out the house. I think it's just a phase (as always) but he is being a right pain in the evenings!

If he’s not napping, have you tried bringing bedtime earlier by half an hour? 13 hours is a long time for him to be awake, he could just be overtired.
