Surgery on feet?? 2 years old

Hello, I've wrote on here before concerned as my son has low muscle tone and is on the inside of his feet. He goes to Physio weekly and wears special boots with insoles, his feet were improving but recently seem to be going back to how they were right on the inside.
We've been referred to a surgeon who thinks he may need to operate on both feet. I thought something more could be done first before an op!!! Just wondering if anyone has gone through this or something similar? Everyone I've spoke to said shoes or insoles correct it :(

What about the low muscle tone? How old is he?

Nj200 · 20/04/2018 07:07

The low muscle tone only seems to be effecting his feet, he walks totally on the inside of his feet and doesn't bend them when walking.
He's 2 next month

He doesn't bend his feet? at all? So he would walk like a penguin. Is it because he can't or doesn't he like it ? If he can't there is no way a sole will fix this. He need to have surgery on his tendon . If he can but won't, has the physio tried exercises like grabbing a towel with his toes or picking up pencils and lifting them with his feet? Are there baby ballet classes near you? There is a lot of walking on tip toes even in the baby courses and jumping which makes the feet stronger.

I am not sure you can do physio for stretching the ankle-feet joint. Pointing, moving up and down.

You might want to report this discussion to MN so it can be moved in the health section where someone might have had a similar issue.

It's hard to explain, he bends his knees when walking just not his feet as they're on the inside so doesn't walk like a penguin.
You can position his foot the right way but uncomfortable and goes straight back the other way, Physio don't do anything like that with him it's more balancing classes getting him to walk up steps and over uneven services etc
