As some of you are already aware DS(18m) is quite delayed in eating finger food simply because he can not bear the idea of his hands touching food forget about putting it in his mouth himself, though he is good with the spoon.
Went to the beach and spend the day on a towell as he could not stand the idea of getting sand on his feet (spend hours cleaning his shoes while siting at the towel)

So... could anybody explain how is it possible that I turn my back for a second while bathing him and find him munching my pumice stone???

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

lol!

My ds also had a 'thing' about getting in any way dirty (hated sand, hated paint or food on his hands, fed himself with cutlery very early etc), but would quite happily chew dh's sweaty sandals.

I think they must have a different definition of 'dirty' to us!

Yes, definitively a complete different idea... so far the only thing he puts willingly in his mouth are his shoes and socks, some toys (just lately) and digestive biscuits I have tried every other biscuit to see if he gets used to at least other textures... no luck but hey! have found him chewing the dogs biscuits...

Same here!! DD, 13 months, won't take to finger food because she won't actually put it in her mouth, she'll just play with it for ages. But give her anything she's not supposed to eat and that'll be in there faster than lightening!!

My dd is also very sensitive to textures, especially when it comes to food. If it's cold and wet she won't touch it, in fact gets upset if it's even on the highchair table! She likes warm dry food to hold only. So no fruit, tomatoes, cucumber etc. She's also very fastidious and afraid of things being 'dirty' or 'sticky.' Now she's talking more (22 months) every time she sees a white mark on something she runs off screaming 'birdy poo!!' Same with brown stains 'doggy poo!!'. She even refuses to look at a book we have which is about shadows as she thinks all the dark shapes are doggy poo. Sigh ...
