how much do you want to spend?

Busybean · 05/05/2007 23:23

nothing too OTT....something original....something he can keep?

Runninglate · 05/05/2007 23:25

I think the main thing is nothing too large size wise that will add to the general clutter. He is DC3 with no. 4 on the way and mum is very minimalist and tidy!. I guess about £15 - does that sounds about right??

Books.
hairy mclairy from donaldsons dairy etc

tubismybub · 05/05/2007 23:28

I always think books are great gifts and they can be handed down to the next one

tubismybub · 05/05/2007 23:29

snap tigana!

Ds adored slinky malinky which is same range as hairy mcclairy

Have they got a garden? I bought my friend's dd a fruit tree for her first b'day.

Runninglate · 06/05/2007 22:21

oh yes - books I do love and what a very cool idea for a fruit tree. They are in the process of moving to their 'permanent forever' home, so that might be a great idea!

Also - PSW, your name has given me another idea - his first wellies!?!?!!

Bought my ds an Amazing Animal Train for his 1st bday, which he adores. Got one for my 1 yr old niece this week reduced to 15 quid in Tescos. She loves it too!

maximummummy · 06/05/2007 22:30

it was my friends ds 1st b.day last week and i got him some ELC chunky vehicles which join up in a line with magnets they are great my ds had some for his 1st b.day and they are still going strong and very popular with visiting babies/toddlers

one of the few prezzies I can remember my dd getting for her 1st birthday was a little pile of books from my auntie. She's now 8 and they've been passed down to ds (who is 18mths). We got a fab book the other day from Borders, called Millie Moo. He thinks it's brilliant and has asked for it every night for the past week). Maybe you could get books and a tree (I always worry that plants might die - my mum had a cherry tree she planted for me when I was born that died recently and it traumatised her thinking it was going to happen to me too - she's a bit barmy though!!! )

personalised blardy bunting

Gingermonkey · 06/05/2007 22:47

this website has some nice personalised name plaques and stuff - littlelollipops . I've bought quite a bit of stuff from them and it arrives nicely wrapped too.

pinkspottywellies · 06/05/2007 22:48

Um yeah.. the tree I bought did actually die over the winter - frost. But it was a nice idea and the plan was to take a photo of her next to it each year etc etc
