Hi, I’m a mother to a 2 year 8 month old and I am also due baby number 2 in 4 weeks.
When we are out and about my toddler will hold hands for about 2 mins before getting distracted and running off, being as pregnant as I am it’s difficult to keep a control of him. I’ve tried reins but he will then sit on the floor refusing to move. Have also tried a buggy board but not had any luck with that either.
I don’t want to get a double buggy as moving around shops is difficult enough with a single buggy but I’m worried that when baby number 2 comes along because he won’t stay with me and I won’t be able to chase after him with a baby in a buggy. If things don’t change then I’ll be forced to stay inside with both kids all day every day which I don’t want for them.
Any tips on how I can keep him close without losing him?
Sorry it’s a long message I’ve just had a nightmare trip to one shop with him and I’m now sat at home crying thinking that maybe baby number 2 wasn’t the best of ideas as much as I want her. I’m desperate! X

I had baby number 1 in buggy, baby number 2 in sling. Worked much better than loose number 1.
In fact number 2 hated the buggy, so when she got too big for the sling, went on the buggy board, and number 1 was still in the buggy.

I think you may need a double buggy until he learns to hold your hand or accept the reins.

Or do sling and buggy as pp said but tbh I always found that even more awkward than a double!

I couldn't be without my double. It's lovely to chuck them both in and go for a walk when they're driving me up the wall. You can get some pretty compact ones. My mountain buggy duet fits through all standard doors and is really nice to push.
He has a choice, reins or buggy. It's so dangerous to have him loose.

Have you tried one off those bags with the hand wrist attachment for yourself ? That way it’s not directly on his hand, I use one for mine so much easier
