eternal, never ending teething with NO TEETH! 14 months - how long is this going to go on for?

Ok, maybe not no teeth, he has one. But he's always dribbling, chewing his fingers, he thinks calpol is part of his bedtime routine . MIL said it gets harder as they get older because their gums harden up from chewing - anyone know if this is true? I know there is nothing I can do to speed it up, but just wondered if anyone else had such a late teether, and when I might see the light at the end of the tunnel? He's a rotten sleeper, and I am sure this is part of the reason.

My ds is also nearly 14 months, and seems constantly to be teething. He got 4 in quick succession around 7-8 months then nothing for ages, but has had symptoms for weeks now and only yesterday could I finally detect another tooth. I believe it can go on for ages with nothing appearing. I have a friend whose baby cut her first lower incisors and then the gums healed up again over them!!! So she has to cut them all over again!!!

Sorry can't offer much help other than sympathy, but if he is very distressed have you had the GP check him out? My ds was very upset at night a few days ago and it turned out to be an ear infection when I thought it was the teeth.

Also, have you discovered Medised? Makes them sleep like a dream, although you probably can't use it for more than a couple of days at a time.

Ds was a late teether nothing until 15 months and it has been a slow drawn out process since. he's nearly two and still doesn't have all his front teeth. The last two started to peek through about three weeks ago and they still aren't all the way through.

Sorry propbably not what you wanted to hear but lots of symapthy though

oh my! If it's how things turn our with DS's teeth it's exactly what I need to hear though - just for reassurance that he's not really odd (or at least, not in that way!), and that it's not a sign of anything really worrying, like there not being any teeth in there... Thanks!

My DD is 12 months and doesn't have a single tooth. Bugger knows when they'll come in, she's been wearing two bibs at a time since she was 9 weeks old. My mum said I was a late teether too though, and they all came through no problem, one after another so fingers crossed.
