fussy with foods all of a sudden?

My 11 month old has always been good with his foods until 2 weeks ago, he will have a spoonful or two but then completely shut his mouth, throw and knock the spoon out of my hand and completely turn away.
It’s so out of character he loves food and always has! He isn’t going hungry, he will drink all his bottles when he has them and occasionally have finger foods but that’s it.
Is this normal? Or shall I talk to my GP?

Just for peace of mind.

How is he with finger food / feeding himself? DS is 12 months and he’s been funny about spoon feeding for a while now but he manages to scoff stuff with his fingers ok!!

Could also be teething?

I just wouldn’t bother with spoon feeding if he’s not interested. Just give him food to eat himself and let him get on with it. Agree to check he’s not teething. How much milk is he having roughly in a day?

He’s better with finger food and will eat all of finger foods.
Any ideas what I could give him to give me a wider idea?

He has 180ml of Bottle 3 times a day and will always drink it all, i alternate, meal, bottle, meal, bottle, meal, bottle, bed.

He could be teething he’s always suffered bad suppose it could be that! It’s just never affected his eating before so was just checking 😊

You can give him anything except whole nuts , honey and raw shell fish
Cut grapes and cherry tomatoes up .

Anything really. Today mine had toast and jam for breakfast, a banana, lunch was jacket potato with cheese and beans, dinner was rice, salmon, veg in tomato sauce. Tbh it’s a bit of a combination of him spooning, me spooning and him shovelling with his hands! His fav is any kind of pasta shapes, pasta bake etc.

I’d also cut sausage lengthways otherwise it can be a choking hazard and there’s a list of foods to avoid here.

Some things to try are:

Breakfast. Porridge fingers, banana, sausage and beans, blueberry pancake, toast with smooth nut butter, cinnamon & raisin bagel with butter, sardines on toast, scrambled egg.

Lunch ‘bits’ literally just bits of what you have in, fruit, veg, strips of meat, cubes of cheese etc. Savoury muffin, eggy bread with berries, sandwich, pitta pizza.

Tea whatever you are having. Just get some long sleeved bibs and put a cheap shower curtain on the floor. Things like spag bol, fish pie, roast dinners, curries and rice (You can always add plain yoghurt to cool it down) can all be eaten by baby with no help from you Smile

Snacks can be cheese straws, sliced apples spread with smooth nut butter, hummus and raw veg, cubes of cheese with halved grapes, fruit.

Let us know how you get on Smile

Forgot about Cheerios. If you put them in a bowl without milk they make a great finger food and usually keep them quiet for ages Smile
