please save my sanity. she is tantrumming after 1pm every day, which is when she used to have an afternoon nap. she is currently shouting and screaming in her cot in her room across the hallway from me. she will drop off to sleep soon, but is getting very strong willed about it. if she doesnt nap now, then she may not go off at all this afternoon and i will have a demon child till bedtime tonight.

Would she fall asleep if you walked round the block in the buggy? or can't you go out and leave peter?

LoveMyGirls · 03/05/2007 13:54

Dd2 has been miserable lately since her MMR and the screaming for ages everytime she falls or doesnt egt her own way is really wearing me down hopefully it will wear off in a couple of weeks so you have my complete sympathy

misdee · 03/05/2007 13:54

she used to nap on the way to taking dd2 to nursery after lunch. but since dd2 has gone all days since jan naptimes have become harder.

cant go out and leave peter

think she has finally gone off, only taken 20mins.

My daughter went through this for a while. Now I read her a story and then put her in the cot with the book and say have a little rest. I don't mention sleep as it sets her off. She takes about 30 minutes to get to sleep but she sings and reads and amuses herself.

You just need not to go in and crack and hopefulyl she will stop it. I also stopped letting her sleep in the buggy and was strict with the routine.

my 2yr old has recently stopped napping at all. I spent weeks investing most of the day trying different tactics to get her to nap amd in the end decided it just wasn't worth it. We decided she would just have to have an earlier bedtime. For a couple of weeks she was a foul grumpy little madam by 5p.m, but now it's wonderful and she goes to bed with no fuss at all ready for her 12hr sleep. Perhaps this could be the next phase for you?
