8.5 month old trouble settling-

Hi, i have an 8.5 month old, who has recently mastered the art of standing and crawling, and has become extremely active. He has always been good at settling to sleep, all i would do for his daytime naps and bedtime, would be to put him down, kiss him, and leave the room, and he would winge for a couple of seconds then go straight off to sleep.

However, since he has become so mobile, he now fights his daytime naps, and is very tricky to settle at night, bc s when i put him down,he just rolls over and stands up in his cot, and wont go down. The only way i can get him to sleep in the daytime is either rocking, ot a drive in the car, or a milk feed. He also is still waking in the night and standing up in his cot crying! Help! is this a phase??

DS is 10.5 months and not as mobile as your DS but is getting a bit harder to settle at times as he keeps sitting up and getting his feet stuck inbetween the bars. I'm pretty sure someone else will confirm that is is just a phase and that it hopefully doesn't last long

tk mines 11 months old and all i can say is welcolm to my world as far as he's concerned he's learned something new to do and going to sleep is boring with the waking in the night mine does this every time he's got a new tooth coming through so i wouldnt rule out teething at the moment and it might sound silly but your lucky yours only stands up and crys my ds stands up crys for about a minuite then starts rocking the cot a couple of times he's nearly tipped it over

mummytojames, oh my god! how can he tip the cot? how strong is he? maybe nail the cot to the wall!

thanks for your suggestions, as for the teething, you may be right, especially at night, but during the day, he just doesnt seem to want to sleep even though i can see he is visibly tired. He just wants to move about- maybe what i need to do, is leave him until he is SOOO tired, he cant stay awake, then he will go to sleep himself- at the moment, he can easily stay awake 4 hours at a go- so say from 6.30am-10.30am.

Maybe i should just leave him and see what happens, rather than try to put him down within the 4-hour bracket??
