Bedwetting

Any clever ideas/tips on how to stop this?

DD 7 yo wet every night, she seems to sleep very deeply, tried one alarm without success. Tried waking every 2 hrs but gave up when found her super wet anyway. Not sure where it all comes from tbh. Going to try waking again this weekend every 2-3 hrs. Any clever ideas??

Have you taken her to the gp

No I haven't, I have tried to make light of it, medication seems a bit extreme. Have you taken yours to the GP and found it useful?

It won't just be medication although that may be part of the treatment as bedwetting can be caused by the lack of a hormone that reduces urine production overnight. Check out the ERIC website too

Completely normal for some children this age and older to still be bedwetting. It can be genetic - I wet the bed as a child and my two children do too.

I took my DS1 to the GP at age 7 and she wasn't at all concerned and said with a percent of children it just continues for another few years. I'd bring my child to the GP if I were you though just to get that confirmed in case there is some issue causing it.

I keep my two in pullups every night. They are age 6 and 8. The 6 year old wets every night. The 8 year old used to wet every night but in the last few months it only happens rarely - and he actually wakes up now in the middle of the night by himself to go to the toilet.

I suppose you might want to consider medication if the child was going on sleepovers and was embarrassed.

She's going to be exhausted of you wake her frequently during the night. Presumably you limit fluids from 5pm onwards? Have you woken her and asked her to use the toilet before you go bed? She has to be awake for this, not just being lifted

Foolish1 · 03/02/2018 18:01

Yes I do limit the fluids, yes I wake her 2hrs after her bed time and then at my bed time, often she has already gone. I have been waking her up, light on and her walking to the loo not lifting her. Still no joy. She tells me her belly is not telling her she needs to go like it does in the day so looks like I will just have to put up with it for a while
