Stammering?

I think my 5yo DD has a stammer.
It's usually at the beginning of a statement which has sort of looked like (to me anyway) she's reinforcing her statement to make sure she's heard, eg we're talking about holidays, she'll pipe up,
"WH WH WHEN (raised voice) I was a baby we we went on an aer aer aeroplane didn't we Mum?" (Only way I can describe it, sorry if it comes across as insensitive).
We always give her her space to speak and she's not lacking for our attention, she's quite confident and articulate normally and it doesn't put her off saying her piece... but,
I'm wondering if a) someone in her class has got a stammer and it's a bit of mimicry or b) she's really got a stammer and if that's the case where do we go from here?
I've been trying not to broach it too early with her teacher incase it's a phase but now I'm pretty sure it's a thing

My DS has a stammer, it started when he was 2 and he's 10 now, still has it, but it's not too bad, he has never had any speech therapy, just been assessed a few times over the years. I always make sure i ask the teacher at parents evening if they are concerned, but they never have been.

I suggest you ask the speech and language coordinator at the school (all schools should have one) for advice. You can probably also self-refer to the speech and language department in your area.

Thankyou! I did speak with her teacher and they'd not noticed (she's very quiet at school) but she did say she'd keep an eye out. Parents evening coming up so I can formalise the issue then

Well done, that's a good start. At parents evening you can ask for the is the speech and language coordinator to be present, and you can also prepare by finding out about your local speech and language department and what they can do.
