Y'know

DD is a perfectly normal and lovely 4 year old. Playschool have no concerns, she goes to ballet and swimming lessons etc. Normal development. Tongue tie but not bad enough to be cut now.

However she fills her sentences with "y' know" and I hate it. I can't think of anyone else who says it so don't know where she's got it from.

An example, "mummy, y'know I think we should, y'know, go to the park because, y'know, I like the park and I could take my, y'know, scooter too". I know that she says it when she's thinking of the right word, and I don't like to call her on it, but what if she doesn't grow out of it?

Any advice would be welcome.

My ds, 4, word just now is actually, I actually have an actual real grabber, actually. Before this it was really really really!!!!! It'll progress onto another word which equally irritates you x

Age 2-3 every single sentence from ds started with well.....
Now age 5 the latest is " and they'll be all like..... Then I'll be like..," sounds like a mini teenager
I think they go through these little speech phases to test us Wink

Thanks for reassuring me! I'll look out for the next word phase.

My 4yr dd says y'know and actually a lot too....and stammers a bit or repeats one word about 5 times. We remind her to stop, think about what she wants to say and try again when it gets too much. Really tests my patience though!
