Mental 4 year old

My 4 year old son literally never stops moving. He's exhausting. He wants to fight, run, climb and bash me about on a constant basis. He's a sweet kid underneath all the chaos but I'm so frazzled with it all. I actually flinch when he comes near.

I discuss his behaviour with him on a daily (hourly) basis and have lots of boundaries and parameters to try to manage him. I take him out constantly to parks etc to try to wear him out but nothing seems to work.

He's always been like this so nothing new but as he's bigger it feels more problematic as he can do more damage without realising it.

He can concentrate really well when playing and he's very chatty and sociable so I don't think there's an issue with adhd or anything but as I've been off over Christmas I just feel broken. Covered in bruises from being jumped on and so tired. doesn't feel much like a break! He's always sorry when he hurts me but can't seem to calm down.

Anyone else have this issue?

I think most parents of 4 year old boys share your literal pain lol. My ds also 4 has so much energy, some days you swear he has not sat still, it's amazing. I think the more tired he is the more he moves, trying to keep himself awake.

And the build up to Christmas has been wild. Forget the daily chats, just reminders when he's too rough with you, they're too impulsive still at this age lol xx

Oh well I'm glad it's not just mine then! I could quite cheerfully have had him adopted given his behaviour at 6am this morning. 🙄

Ive had days when I've wondered whether it was OK to tether him in the garden, today being one of them.
He behaves great for ages then just has days/weeks when he's wild.
I'm sure it's a boy thing, people keep telling me it's normal, but you do wonder sometimes xx
