Hi, was just looking for advice and wondering on what other mum's have experienced.

Im a first time mum and my DD is 3 months old and I keep getting alot of conflicting information about where she should be development wise. Articles that I receive and other parents seem to indicate that she's not doing the things that she should be at her age: sleeping through the night, regular feeding pattern, being put down drowsy but sleepy and getting herself to sleep, not reaching out for toys during tummy time etc. HV's seem to bit be too worried about her feeding pattern as she's putting on plenty if weight etc despite being 3 weeks early. I am concerned that maybe I'm not doing enough to get her on track or maybe she's just not ready - I don't know.

Does anyone else have experience with this, am I worrying unnecessarily over nothing and she'll get there in her own time or should I be really trying to help her push forward with developing somehow?

Hi
I'm no expert as first time mum too but my little boy didn't sleep thru at 3 months - nearer 18 weeks and that's stopped again as we're on another growth spurt!!! His feeding pattern totally depends on when he wakes up so can be different each day.
As for tummy time mine hates it!!!! He manages 4 mins at a time before screaming so v little reaching for toys!!!!
Try not to worry ( easier said I know!!!) Your LO will get there just enjoy the early weeks while they're so tiny!!!

I don't think sleeping through the night and feeding pattern are anything at all to do with development. More to do with size and how well they feed.

FWIW my two both got easier about 4 months, certainly in relation to feeding pattern anyway.

Stop worrying!
I have 3 dc and they all did things at different times despite doing the same thing with them all.
Dd1 slept 12 hours through at night, but didn't have a daytime routine until about 8 months.
Dd2 slept through the night at about 18 months when she was given medised (no longer licenced for children) as she was so bad. However she fell into a daytime routine fairly early, probably mostly because there was some routine round dd1 going to preschool etc.

Juts enjoy them and don't worry about these things. As others have said they're not really development stages.

My 12 month old only sleeps through once or twice a week and still breast feeds on demand between 4 and 20 times in 24 hours... she walks and has about 15 words so I'd say you're worrying about nothing. Just keep an eye on her.
